From abcmedianet.com:
BOSTON LEGAL - "Til We Meat Again" - Shirley Schmidt and Denny Crane represent a man whose steakhouse is being put out of business as the publicity-hungry mayor has pushed through an ordinance banning red meat for fear of Mad Cow disease, and in the process of trying the case, Crane wins over Schmidt's respect as an attorney. Meanwhile, what begins as an evening out for Alan Shore and Tara Wilson ends in a barroom brawl, with Shore arrested for conspiracy to commit assault and battery. And Lori and Brad serve as second chair for a new attorney Schmidt has just poached from another law firm who refers to himself as "Sexy Man," on "Boston Legal," SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 13 (10:02-11:00 p.m., ET), on the ABC Television Network.
Okay, Alan gets into a bar brawl, but will it be a gag throughout the show, or a serious storyline? What's with Schmidt hiring what looks to be a flaky lawyer?! Isn't that part of the reason she was brought into Boston, to get the serious work done?
And what's on abc on 1/30 that there's no ep? Sorry, I'm grouchy!

Yup, no new episodes on the 30th or the 6th. I'm not sure why there's no new epi on the 30th, but the 6th is the superbowl so that makes sense! This episode sounds very good, though

They've just got rid of one regular cast member. Is it necessary to bring in another lawyer? By the way is he a guest actor for this episode only? DEK please concentrate on storylines for your immediate cast.

I can't quite see Alan throwing the first punch let alone defending himself in a fight. Remember in TP when Jimmy lunged at Alan? If Eugene hadn't held him back Alan would've seriously been hurt. Remember Shore's drug dealer client who attacked him from behind? It took two security guards to get him off poor Alan. I'm wondering whether Alan is physically involved in a fight or whether he causes a fight between others but doesn't actually participate. What do others think?

I have a thought-completely speculative of course-but is it possible that JS has told DEK that he won't be back next season, and DEK is trying to build a new show without him, setting things up? This Sexy Beast character sounds outrageous and a big personality-doesn't this seem like someone who would compete with the place that AS fills-is an odd complement to AS- but could make more sense if he might be one who might replace him....
I have wondered for a while whether JS would come back next year. Maybe (we can hope) there are some interesting new projects that have been offered to him, now that the industry at large has been reminded about how great he is AND maybe he's explored this one character as much as he'd like. Also, the grinding TV schedule....
What do others think?

oh, my. another new cast member. somehow, i don't find that good news. they've already got some really sexy guy cast members that they're not doing much with. i don't know. it doesn't seem like anyone at abc/dek productions really cares enough about this show. that's kind of a contagious thing, too.
i like the idea of js doing movies again. i hope he'll get some really good offers and decide to go in that direction. working 4 months a year for lots and lots of money and making one or two quality films every couple of years--that'd be nice. i know that the weekly js fix is a very special thing, something most of us thought we'd never get, and i don't want to seem ungrateful for it...on the other hand, i'd rather see him in an occasional good film than see him every week in an increasingly befuddled/silly series.
seems that lots of critics are tired of the series already. i haven't been posting them here, but there've been lots and lots of negative comments about the show, and, well, there've been lots.
i still have hope that the crane/shore relationship will be fleshed out more. i do love them together. if that doesn't happen, if the show continues as it's going, i won't be sad if it's cancelled. just want to see js do quality work. pentagon papers wasn't so long ago. for anyone who hasn't seen it, put it on your must see list. our guy's extraordinary as daniel elsberg.

I love Boston Legal. Can't get enough.. myself. But it's not the same as it was when he was on the Practice. A completely different show. (I know.)
But I have to agree with you there Teddy. I think I'd rather have movie Spader than TV Spader. Hell I'd like both.. but he's not a spring chicken (hahahaha) anymore and if he's as lazy as he claims, he would never try to juggle both. I give the show another season at the most, before he leaves. (Depending on his contract... which I'm sure wasn't for long.)

Say it ain't so!!!. I can't possibly be that! BL could not survive without JS/AS. I could believe it about MV/BC but not AS.

Does Mark Valley not play in an another series too? There is one, what started also in 2004. So it can be, that BC is the character, who won't be in BL in the next season.

I have thought that this would happen. I have seen JS do interviews where he praises dek and all but suggests dek's writing is why he wanted to do the show. Now we all know the writing has sucked(not completely,I know.. ) so it is not a stretch to think JS may leap off the sinking ship this year. I will be sad to lose a weekly fix but perhaps a new film in a year would be even better. BL for me is a js fix with incredibly funny moments- though only moments lately. I am I being too harsh?

My understanding is "Harry Green and Eugene" was a pilot that wasn't put on a fall schedule. But I'll take Valley starring in his own show any day. Or both shows. But remember, the concept of anyone leaving next season is speculative.

"Sexy Man," huh? I'm not liking this...
I agree with you all...it would be great to see some new quality film work from JS (along the lines of Secretary and Pentagon Papers). This show is just becoming a laughfest.
Where I am in Chicago, they are rerunning season 8 of "The Practice" on UPN every Saturday night, and it is just such a contrast! "Avenging Angels" was just on this week...and the scene with Alan, Tara and the conference table was so sexual and tense. (As was the end scene with Alan and the hooker). I miss the old, emotionally troubled, self-depreciating AS...he has just become too much of a joke...albeit hilarious at times. TP was melodramatic, but AS was just better as a character in that series.
I really don't know what will happen, but I can't see this show as being very long-running...
If the writing was better, maybe JS would have won that Golden Globe!

I absolutely agree here, Teddy. JS is an excellent actor, and I am starting to think that he deserves better than this! DEK and his people really don't seem to be giving it their all with the show...and I hate to see JS's immense talents go to such incredible waste! I just keep thinking about how great the Alan Shore character was on TP; geez, I miss him...
