Thanks for the news Susan. Can't wait. I love JS interviews.

CO'B probably knows he needs to make up for totally losing it the last time. I recently saw his Sep 30, 2004 interview with JS for the first time and I've ranted enough about it. I don't want to come across as bashing CO'B. I love his Feb 19, 2004 interview with JS. I also enjoy the Sep 30, 2004 one, what there is of it. I resent the two and half minutes that are lost when CO'B totally loses it because of the voice-over.

Maybe JS is doing the interview to give his reaction to ABC's decision to cut the 2004-05 season short and tag the last 5 episodes on to the next season.

Thank you for the heads up! I surely hope Conan does better this time...do not let the Spader get into boiled eggs again! ;D

Hopefully we'll hear about Boston Legal and what has he been doing during hiatus ;)

Don't worry about JS talking about eggs. He won't. He knows it's been done before.

He's an excellent stick-handler when it comes to moving around issues he doesn't want to talk about. In the last Conan interview he was the one to cut the egg topic short. I think Conan would have let him go on and on again, because it worked so well the previous time.

This is grabbed from the Spader site. Beverly send a brief recap to me, but asked me to post it here as well:

[May 13, 2005]
Spader on Late Night with Conan O'Brien

From a New York viewer:
"It lasted about 7 minutes. Talk about BL was jokey about him and Shatner, kidding that they did a love scene, talked about how Shatner smelled--gamey, like venison. Like a lamb sausage. Conan asked about Spader's childhood. He said it was a very bohemian household. Kind of disappointing if you wanted news on BL, but a very funny interview, just jokey. He was wearing a black pin stripe suit with a burgundy shirt. He always wears that color combo, it seems."

I watch so little TV I didn't know The Late Show is on in our area. I knew The Tonight Show was on, but then it never showed Conan O'Brien after that. Today I decided to stay up just in case. And it was on!!!

Starts out with a fan screaming in delight. JS folds his hands to her and says, "Thank you".

Love the way he doesn't rush on to the stage. Also how he looks at the audience whenever he's talking at length about anything.

He doesn't dive for the water, but he does take sips during the interview.

He starts the interview by making reference to CO'B mentioning the story on Bubbles, Michael Jackson's chimp. JS says, "At a very early age all they want to do is masturbate and throw their feces at you."

JS had a great laugh at the idea of a couple bringing a birthday cake to their pet chimp. This causes three other chimps to be jealous so they attack the couple.

When CO'B wants to move on to another topic, JS interrupts and says "You have the most fantastic hair." I have to say it was oddly styled during his opening.

JS comments:
"Every subject that came up in the pre-interview. I've avoided it."

"Bill and I spooning, wrapped around each other in bed."
"You guys are gonna love it when you see it?"

CO'B says, "I wanna ask about your growing up, cause I'm worried about you."

CO'B contradicts himself by saying his family is closed up when it comes to clothes, then later he says his parents are naked all the time and he's the one that's self-conscience about his body.

Boy! Can JS suck up or what!? A few minutes earlier he had demonstrated a hug to show a closeness we seldom experience with other people, therefore we don't know how they smell, and he also leaned in to sniff CO'Bs hand. CO'B askes him how WS smells, which JS takes a while to describe. Then CO'B asks, "What did you smell when you smelled me?" JS deadpans, "The sweet smell of success."

This was the best interview ever! JS was relaxed he was enjoying himself...he was funny and naughty. I give kudos to COB who didn't get manic and let JS do his thing. And boy was the Spader funny last night!

I loved it that both JS and COB acknowledged that JS was doing his usual evasive tactics at the beginning of the interview... his comment on COB's hair was so like him...and COB was very funny in his retort. .. "Sometimes i comb it like a big wave and clip some little surfers in it" ;D COB just let JS be his odd, endearing self, and it was a great interview. I liked Spader's get up, the same color pinstripe in his suit looked elegant, even COB commented on it...

When JS (ever the storyteller) brought up the story of the chimp that attacked his minder, i had to laugh when after discussing chimps he goes "Chimps" and made this little shudder :-*

I CAN'T WAIT FOR THE START OF BL'S NEW SEASON!! I want to see that scene of AD and DC in bed...though i'm sure JS embelished the story a bit just to make it funnier..talking about spooning and pillow talk ;D I loved it when he described WS's smell, and then he starts sniffing COB!! It was hilarious...and then he hugs him and it seems like he took a good whiff at COB's neck..too funny and crazy!! Of course i took this chance to look at his butt 8-) JS looked gorgeous, he doesn't seem to have gained any more weight 8-)

Oh! and his mini impression of his mom going to the front door while she is still getting dressed "hiking up her bra"he said...too cute! He said next week he's going to visit her, how i wish i could be there!! 8-)

I thoroughly enjoyed this interview JS did great!!! Though he didn't talk much about BL, bringing up "the bed scene" between AS and DC created more expectation than if he had spent the whole time talking about it. Smart move Spader!! Instead we got funny, offbeat Spader and i LOVED, LOVED, LOVED IT!! :-* :-*

I'm in love!! ;D

I have no doubt!

Right now I try to contain myself and to not put any inappropriate pressure on the lovely Dana to get the interview up her website ... like now would be a good time.

The scaps already made me melt <sends more love to Dana> ... can't wait to see him cracking up laughing, I wonder if I ever have. He's always so much in control of every movement and gesture. Really want to see him loosing it.

I shouldn't even start about the smell-and-sniffle-part you guys described. That is when the Spader is involved . just. so. very. hot. :P

Hmm, him and Shatner spooning ... didn't see that coming. Maybe there will be a BL-slash community on LJ when the new season starts. :o ;D

God I *so* wished I'd have the interview to watch it over and over again, frame by frame, drooling and admiring every expression of the Spader the way only he deserves it. But, hey, no pressure! Although I wonder how long I can resist - begging and pleading had become a pretty successful way to get what I want and need lately.
... that sounds just wrong. <shrugs> Don't really care right now.

"Excuse me if I sound smug, but this is to delicious." Now how can I make this even more painfull for you?

What I think you're going to love so much is how like you JS is in terms of smelling people, and their smell being part of knowing them. You've posted on this before and I have no idea what you and JS are talking about.

Now remember I say this with the happy satisfaction of having seen the interview already. Several times over in fact, but please give Dana some time to catch up on her sleep. From what I can tell I'm 1 hour behind the time of this forum, Dana may be more like 3 hours behind. And she obviously stayed up to watch the show, make the screencaps and post them on her site and this site.

It's worth the wait. The interview is as good a mossenda says it is. I'd forgotten to mention how relaxed he is.

Although I'm not sure I'd go so far as to say it's my favorite. For the next while it will be the one I watch most often because it's new. I'm not even sure I could put a finger on which one is my favorite.

Oh I could probably mention my least favorite. I don't bother watching the Ellen Degeneer's one very often. The audio clip of the last one with her (Dana has on her site) is better than the first one. But that first one just doesn't have the moments his others have. Or at least the ones I've seen.

sugarcube, be sure to post as soon as you've seen it.
